This article aims to guide substitute teachers on how to select the appropriate location data when registering or updating their account in the Professional Learning Portal (PLP). The location fields during account creation and updates may pose some difficulty, but this guide will help you select the right options.

When substitute teachers register for the first time or create a PLP account without course enrollment, they may encounter confusion while answering the question "Do you work for a school or school district?" The following scenarios will help to choose the correct option(s).
- I am a substitute teacher who primarily works with one district in Michigan.
If you are a substitute teacher in Michigan who mainly works with one district, please select "Yes" as your response to the question "Do you work for a school or school district" while registering or creating a PLP account. After that, you will be prompted with "Do you reside in Michigan?" Please answer accordingly and complete the additional questions as prompted. - I am a substitute teacher who works with multiple school districts in Michigan.
If you work as a substitute teacher in Michigan and work in multiple school districts without spending most of your time in one specific district, please select "No" as your answer to the question "Do you work for a school or school district?" At this point, you will be prompted with "Do you reside in Michigan?" Please answer accordingly and complete the additional questions as prompted.
To complete the remaining steps, please return to either the Create a PLP Account without a Course Enrollment or First Time User Registration process.
