Collaborative Guardian: Frequently Asked Questions

Intended Audience: Guardians
This article pertains to courses taught by local teachers as part of a collaborative partnership.

I didn’t register for an account, why did I receive an email with login information?

You received the email because a Student Learning Portal (SLP) account has been created for your student. This account was created because someone from your student’s school created it. Along with the creation of the student account, we’ve created a “guardian account” for you to access your student’s information and monitor progress in their Michigan Virtual collaborative course.

What is the best way I can know how my student is performing in their collaborative course(s)?

The data that is available to you in the SLP can be very helpful in understanding your student’s progress and performance in their online course. If you’re looking for more specific information, please reach out to your student’s teacher. Because Michigan Virtual courses are designed to be led by a teacher, the main source of information regarding your student and their coursework is going to be your student’s teacher and other assigned local supports. Please reach out to your student’s teacher and/or local supports with questions of performance and pacing.

How do I know if my student is taking a Collaborative Partnership course?

When viewing the Dashboard, guardians should look for the word "Collaborative Partner" below the title. If this is shown, guardians will need to work with Mentors and/or Instructor for assistance.
