Initial Diagnostic

Intended Audience: Students

About

To create a personalized learning path, EdReady begins by asking students to complete an initial diagnostic—a brief assessment designed to identify which concepts have already been mastered and which areas need further development. This diagnostic includes questions from all units listed within the selected goal.

To begin, students should click the Start Diagnostic button.

Instruction

During the Diagnostic

At the top of the screen, students will see a header displaying summary information about their diagnostic progress. The current question will appear prominently on the screen, with interactive buttons located below it:

  • Save and Close: Allows students to save their progress and return to complete the diagnostic later. When this button is selected, the diagnostic will pause, and students can resume at a more convenient time.
  • Skip: Skips the current question without submitting an answer. It is recommended that students skip questions they do not know rather than guessing, as EdReady uses responses to identify learning gaps and provide accurate support.
  • Submit: After selecting or entering a response, students should click this button to submit their answer and move to the next question.

Completing the Diagnostic

EdReady will continue presenting questions until the diagnostic is complete. Once finished, a confirmation message will appear on screen.

To view results, students should click the View Results button. These results help determine the student's starting point and guide the creation of a tailored study path.

Understanding the EdReady Score

The EdReady score represents a student’s current overall mastery of the material assessed in the diagnostic. A lower score is not a cause for concern—it simply indicates areas where additional study is needed.

EdReady automatically creates a personalized Study Path to help students strengthen those areas. Each time a student completes practice and re-tests in their study path, their score will reflect the new level of mastery. Progress is tracked in real time, encouraging ongoing growth and improvement.
