What is EdReady Math and EdReady English?
EdReady Math and EdReady English are free web-based programs offered by Michigan Virtual, in collaboration with The NROC Project, to Michigan families. These programs provide personalized learning experiences for students to build foundational skills in math and English. They can be used for either enrichment (to go deeper into topics) or remediation (to strengthen weaker areas).
How does EdReady personalize learning?
Both EdReady Math and EdReady English use a short diagnostic test to assess a student's current knowledge. Based on the results of this test, the program creates a personalized study path that focuses on the specific concepts the student needs to strengthen to be ready for their next course or grade level.
What content is covered in EdReady?
EdReady Math covers various math concepts, from elementary grades up through high school levels like Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Geometry, Trigonometry, and SAT Math Prep. EdReady English focuses on key language skills such as reading comprehension, writing, grammar, and vocabulary. The specific content a student accesses is determined by a "Goal Key."
What is a Goal Key and why is it important?
A Goal Key is a specific code that connects a student to the appropriate EdReady Math or EdReady English content. It determines the topics and structure of the student's personalized study plan. Students are prompted to enter a Goal Key the first time they log in after registration.
Where can I find the Goal Keys and other helpful resources?
A list of available Goal Keys, along with corresponding Course Syllabi and Readiness Checklists, can be found on the EdReady Program Resources page. These resources offer insights into the topics covered, expected outcomes, and readiness indicators for each program.
How does a guardian register a student for EdReady?
Guardians can register a student by going to the Michigan Virtual EdReady website (michiganvirtual.edready.org) and clicking the "Get Started" button. They will need to provide the student's first name, last name, email address (which serves as the username), password, and zip code. A valid and unique email address is required for each student account. After signing up, guardians must confirm the registration through an email sent by EdReady.
What is the process for a student's initial login and setup after registration?
After registration and email confirmation, the student should go to the Michigan Virtual EdReady website and sign in using the email address and password created during registration. Upon the first login, EdReady will prompt the student to enter their Goal Key. After submitting the Goal Key, the student can click "Get Started" to access their personalized study path and begin working through the content.
Are EdReady programs instructor-led?
No, EdReady Math and EdReady English are not instructor-led courses. They are web-based programs designed for personalized, self-paced learning. Enrollment is completed solely through the EdReady website.
