What is EdReady and who is it designed for?
EdReady Math and EdReady English are personalized learning applications offered through Michigan Virtual. EdReady Math is designed for students in grades 4–12, while EdReady English is for students in grades 8–12. The primary purpose of these tools is to identify and help students close gaps in their learning by providing targeted skill-building resources.
How can schools utilize EdReady?
Schools can use EdReady in various ways. It can be implemented as part of a blended learning environment to support Tier 1 instruction for all students. Additionally, EdReady is a valuable resource for Tier 2 or Tier 3 interventions, providing individualized support for students who need it.
How can a school obtain a School Site License for EdReady?
To get started with an EdReady School Site License, a school needs to fill out the contact form on the michiganvirtual.org website to connect with a Michigan Virtual School Partner Team member. After this initial conversation, the school will receive a school-wide EdReady license email from Customer Care. This email will contain the EdReady goal names, goal keys, and a link to relevant course syllabi.
How do school staff get administrator access to the EdReady platform?
Designated school staff members will be granted Administrator access to the EdReady platform after the school receives its site license. If additional staff members require Administrator access, a Michigan Virtual Sales Representative should be contacted.
What kind of information can administrators access through the EdReady Administrator Dashboard?
The EdReady Administrator Dashboard provides detailed reports on student usage, performance, and progress. Administrators can access reports that show insights at the individual student, classroom, and school levels for both math and English goals. Available reports include the Overview Report (showing diagnostic completion, score improvement, time spent, and score distribution), the Summary Report (detailing individual student performance, scores, time spent, and score gain), the Unit Detail Report (displaying unit mastery status), and the Topic Detail Report (showing performance on specific topics within units). How can administrators analyze EdReady data?
Data from the EdReady dashboard can be exported to Microsoft Excel. This allows administrators to easily filter, sort, and analyze the data according to their needs. The Enrollment Report, for example, can be downloaded in Excel format to view information across all study paths.
What are the technical requirements for students to use EdReady?
To use EdReady successfully, students need a computer or compatible device with internet access. Access to YouTube is also necessary for some instructional resources. Google Chrome is the strongly recommended browser for optimal performance.
What is the student experience like when starting with EdReady?
Students will first register for an account on the Michigan Virtual EdReady website using a unique email address they can immediately access for verification. After activating their account, they will log in and enter a "Goal Key" provided by their school. This key directs them to their assigned goals. Students will then start by completing an initial diagnostic test, which helps identify their current understanding and areas needing improvement. Based on the diagnostic results, EdReady generates a personalized study path focused on the skills the student needs to master. Students can then use the "Learn" and "Test" features within each unit and topic to work through their personalized study path, with the option to take Unit Tests. They will also receive regular email updates on their progress. View the presentation.
How are students scored in EdReady?
EdReady consists of two main sections—Learn and Test—that guide students through their study path. The Learn section offers study materials such as videos, practice tests, and topic texts that help students prepare without affecting their EdReady score; progress is saved and materials can be reviewed repeatedly without penalty. The Test section is where students can improve their score by demonstrating mastery of each topic. If mastery isn't achieved, students must return to the Learn section before retesting. Score increases vary by topic and may not always be immediately visible due to the overall structure of the study path and the use of whole-number scoring.
How does EdReady select the questions a student will see in their study path?
On Unit and Topic Tests, EdReady assesses students based on specific Learning Objectives (LOs) using a tiered testing approach. Initially, students are given high-level questions that cover multiple LOs; if answered correctly, mastery is granted for all those objectives. If answered incorrectly, EdReady follows up with individual low-level questions targeting each LO separately, and the original high-level question does not count toward mastery. To prevent repetition, EdReady tracks which questions a student has encountered and will not present the same question again until the question pool for that objective has been fully used.
How do Unit Tests work?
If Unit Tests are enabled for a study path, students will see a "Unit Test" button at the top of the page when viewing a unit. The content of the Unit Test depends on the unit’s mastery status and whether the learning objectives (LOs) were included in the initial diagnostic. If the unit is not yet mastered and not all LOs were included in the diagnostic (which is common), the Unit Test will only cover objectives marked as Not Assessed. If all LOs were included in the diagnostic or the unit is already marked as Mastered, the Unit Test will include every learning objective in the unit.
Can I see my students' progress in EdReady?
Yes, administrators with reporting privileges—such as teachers, counselors, principals, or department chairs—can view student progress in EdReady through the “Reports” section of their dashboard. Within the “Assessments” subsection, administrators can select an assessment and click “Overview” to access detailed reports. The assessments visible to each administrator are based on the goals linked to their account, meaning they can only view data for students working within those specific goals. To access additional assessments, permission updates must be requested from the EdReady version administrator.
