Check Student Orientation Course Completion Status

Intended Audience: Mentors

Introduction:

Before accessing course content, students must complete the Student Orientation to Online Learning course by earning a 100% score on the final quiz. If needed, students may retake the quiz until the required score is achieved. Mentors have the ability to verify whether a student has completed this orientation course. The steps below outline how mentors can check this completion status using the Student Learning Portal (SLP).

Details:

  1. After logging in to the SLP, mentors should select Go to Courses from the left-hand navigation menu.
  2. Brightspace is the platform where the orientation course is housed. On the Go to Courses page, locate the appropriate student and click the "Michigan Virtual (Brightspace)" icon located in the “Go to Courses” column.
The Go to Courses page is shown with an arrow pointing to the Go to Courses option in the left menu and to the Brightspace icon.
  3. When the Brightspace homepage is shown, scroll down to the "Students I mentor" section.
  4. To the far right of the student’s name, click the View User Progress icon (represented by a chart with an upward arrow).
  5. On the Progress Summary page, scroll through the left-hand menu and select the Student Orientation to Online Learning course.
  6. After selecting the course, click Quizzes from the left-hand menu. This will show a list of quiz attempts along with the final score. Click details to view additional information.

Important: A 100% score on the final quiz is required for students to unlock their remaining course content. If a student has not reached this score, they must retake the quiz until the requirement is met. Mentors may direct students to the separate article titled View Progress in Student Orientation to Online Learning Course for additional student-specific instructions.
