Understanding Course Email Notifications

Intended Audience: Students

About

Michigan Virtual instructors use course email notifications to help students stay informed about academic progress and identify areas for improvement. These targeted messages are designed to promote student success and ensure equitable support across all courses.

When a student misses a key assignment, discussion, or falls below a grade benchmark, instructors may send a personalized email notification. These messages are intended to guide students toward taking action and offer a direct line of communication with the instructor.

Key Details

  • Direct Communication: These notifications are sent only to students. Mentors and guardians will not receive copies of these emails.
  • Instructor Support: Students can respond directly to these emails. Replies are delivered straight to the course instructor.
  • Email Format Example:
A message from a course instructor may include a subject line such as:
"Low Score Received in Intelligent Agent – Message Your Instructor to Discuss."
The body of the email will explain the concern (e.g., low quiz score) and encourage communication.
