Insights: Learner Progress Dashboard

Intended Audience: Mentors

About

The Learner Progress Dashboard is an interactive reporting tool designed to help mentors quickly view and analyze student progress in Michigan Virtual courses. This dashboard provides summary and detailed insights into course completion and performance metrics, making it easier to monitor engagement, identify needs, and support student success.

Mentors can filter data by term, course, or student and also download reports for documentation or follow-up. This guide outlines the steps to access the dashboard, apply filters, and explore its features.

Filtering the Learner Progress Dashboard

Mentors can apply filters to focus on specific semesters, courses, or students. Filtered results will be displayed in the following data cards: "PR - M - Avg Percent Completion" and "PR - M - Avg Percent Score."

  • Filter by Semester: Locate the "PR - M - Semester Filter v2a" card. Open the Terms dropdown menu and select the desired semester. Check the box beside the semester name and click Apply.
  • Filter by Course: Navigate to the "PR - M - Course Filter v2a" card. Use the Courses dropdown to select the relevant course(s). Check the box next to the course name and click Apply.
  • Filter by Student: Open the "PR - M - Enrolled Students Filter v2a" card. Select a term from the Learners dropdown menu. Check the box beside the student's name and click Apply.

Mentors may apply multiple filters at once to narrow results to specific combinations of terms, courses, and students.

Advanced Filtering and Interaction

Mentors can further refine results using the Work Completed and Current Score cards:

  • Work Completed Progress Card (Card Name: PR - M - Work Completed Progress v2): Displays the number of items completed versus the total number of items in each course category (assignments, quizzes, discussions, LTI tools, etc.). Categories with no items will show N/A. The Percent Complete column uses a color-coded scale at 25% intervals. To view an individual student’s work completion, click on the student's name in the corresponding row.
  • Current Score Card (Card Name: PR - M - Current Score): Shows the percentage of points earned out of the total points possible per category. Categories with no applicable items will show N/A. The Current Score Percent column also uses a tiered 25% color scale. Click on a student's name to view their current score breakdown.
