PLP: Update Account

Intended Audience: Professional Learners/Educators, MiRegistry Members

About

Maintaining up-to-date profiles is crucial to ensure that we can better service our learners and maintain accurate records. This is particularly significant for learners pursuing State Continuing Education Clock Hours (SCECH) credits or Continuing Education Units (CEUs) as we transfer records to partners. This guide has been designed to help learners manage their Professional Learning Portal (PLP) passwords and keep their account information current.

Instruction

Change Email Address

If a learner happens to change their email address, it's crucial to update their account details to ensure seamless access to their course records. Please be aware that learners do not have the capability to modify this field independently. Instead, learners must contact our Customer Care Center by submitting a ticket or calling 888.889.2840 to request an email change.

Add Information for SCECHs

The Michigan Department of Education (MDE) utilizes the Michigan Online Educator Certification System (MOECS) for teacher certification renewals. Michigan Virtual, endorsed by MDE as a SCECH sponsor, provides courses that align with MDE SCECH standards. Educators pursuing SCECH credits for certification renewal through our courses must include their Personal Identification Code (PIC) within their PLP profile. Since MOECS does not offer a computer interface for direct uploads, providing this PIC is essential to guarantee the accurate upload of learner records. Follow the steps below to update or add the PIC:

  1. Navigate to the left-hand menu and select Edit Account.
  2. Next, locate the Do you have a PIC? drop-down field and select "I have a PIC" from the available options.
  3. Then insert the PIC obtained from MOECS
  4. Finally, scroll down to tap the Update Account button to apply the changes.
The Edit Account page shows arrows pointing to the Do you have a PIC and PIC fields and to the Update Account button. Remaining fields have been blurred.

Add Information for CEUs

Early childhood education professionals and those working in out-of-school time settings have the option to update their PLP profile, allowing the automatic transmission of course completion data to their MiRegistry account to obtain CEUs. To participate, learners are required to include their Registry ID in their profile. To get started, please follow the steps provided below.

  1. Navigate to the left-hand menu and select Edit Account.
  2. Next, scroll down the page and locate the MiRegistry ID field.
  3. Then insert the ID obtained from MiRegistry.
Note: The ID should consist of numerical digits (no special characters).
  4. (Optional) Learners have the flexibility to decide how they want to send completed courses to MiRegistry. If a learner prefers control over which courses get transmitted to MiRegistry, they should leave the "I want all of my eligible courses to be sent to MiRegistry" checkbox unchecked. However, if a learner wishes to have course information from the PLP automatically transferred to MiRegistry as soon as a course is completed, they will need to check the "I want all of my eligible courses to be sent to MiRegistry" checkbox.
  5. Finally, click the Update Account button to apply the changes.
The Edit Account page is shown and arrows point to the MiRegistry ID field, the checkbox below and to Update Account button. Fields shown above have been blurred.
