Intended Audience: Mentors, Affiliation Users
About
In Michigan, Count Day is a critical time when public schools officially document student attendance. To support this process, Michigan Virtual provides a Count Day Dashboard within Brightspace that displays detailed student activity data from a specified timeframe.
This dashboard helps mentors and affiliation users verify student engagement during the count period, ensuring accurate attendance reporting.

- Choose one or more filters to apply (such as course, student name, date range).
- After selecting the criteria, click Apply.
- To clear all filters, open the Filter Views dropdown and select None.
Activity, Course, and Student Cards can be used as additional filters to refine the information displayed in the Count Day Report card.
Key Notes
- Repeated Assignments: An assignment may appear multiple times if a student interacts with it more than once (e.g., discussion replies, quiz attempts, assignment resubmissions). Graded items from LTI tools are also included, and gradebook changes may originate from instructors or system integrations.
- Activity in Time Range: This label reflects all qualifying activity for a student within the designated count window. If no qualifying activity is found, the report will display “No Activity in time range.”
- Submission Types: The report differentiates between:
- “Student submitted Test/Quiz” – indicates the student manually submitted the assessment.
- “Auto Submitted Test/Quiz” – indicates the system automatically submitted the quiz if the student exited without completing the submission.
