Research Opt Out

Intended Audience: Guardians


Participating in Michigan Virtual research activities is completely voluntary. Declining to participate will not result in any penalties or affect the student's grades in their online courses. While we do encourage participation, if you or your student prefer not to take part in research activities, please refer to the instructions below.


  1. First, access the Submit a ticket page of our website. 
  2. Next, populate Your Email, Name and Phone Number fields. 
  3. Then select Billing / Sales / Other from the Which service do you need help with? drop-down field. 
  4. Next, choose Something else from the How can we help you today? drop-down field. 
  5. At this point, insert "Research Opt Out" within the Subject field and then include the following information within the Please describe your issue in as much detail as possible... box. 
    1. Student First Name
    2. Student Last Name
    3. Student Email Address (the email address the student uses signing into the Student Learning Portal). 
    4. Statement/Reasoning for Opt Out
  6. Finally, tap the Submit button to process the request.

The Submit a ticket page is shown and populated with example text within fields mentioned above. An arrow points to the Submit button at the bottom of the page.
