Intended Audience: Professional Learners/Educators, MiRegistry Members
About
Learners returning to the Professional Learning Portal (PLP) can easily access active courses, download completion certificates, and track progress. This guide outlines how to access a Learner account and resolve common login hurdles.
Instruction
- First, open a browser and navigate to the PLP Login page.
- Next, insert the registered email address and password into the required fields.
- Then select the Sign In button to access the Learner Dashboard.
Password Recovery: If a password is forgotten, the "Recover your password" link on the login page allows for an immediate reset.
Login Assistance & Troubleshooting
Most login difficulties are related to email changes, password issues, or account verification. Learners should complete these steps before submitting a support ticket to ensure a faster resolution.
Step 1: Confirm the Email Address (Username)
The email address used during registration serves as the username. Login attempts may fail if:
- The Learner has changed school districts or employers.
- The original work email is no longer active.
- A typo was made during the initial registration process.
Tip: If the specific login email is unknown, the Learner should attempt login using any previous work or personal email addresses that might have been used.
Step 2: Reset the Password
If the email address is recognized but the password fails:
- Select Recover your password on the login page.
- Enter the email address associated with the account.
Then check for the reset email:
- Inbox: Look for a message from @michiganvirtual.org
- Spam/Junk: If the email does not appear within 10 minutes, check Spam or Junk folders
Important – Failed Login Attempts: The Professional Learning Portal allows only three (3) failed login attempts before temporarily locking the account. For full details on login attempts and account lockout, see: PLP Login Attempts & Account Lockout
Step 3. Prevent Duplicate Accounts
If the system indicates "An account already exists," a Learner should not attempt to create a new profile.
- Impact: Duplicate accounts can split course history and delay credit reporting.
- Resolution: Existing accounts can be located or merged by the Customer Care team.
