Brightspace CI: Locating Passwords for Exams

Intended Audience: Collaborative Instructors
This article pertains to courses taught by local teachers as part of a collaborative partnership.

About

To maintain the security and integrity of high-stakes assessments such as midterms and final exams, password protection is applied within Brightspace. This guide outlines how Collaborative Instructors can locate these passwords when preparing students for important evaluations.

Instruction

  1. Begin by selecting the appropriate course within Brightspace.
  2. From the course homepage, click on the Course Admin tab.
  3. Then, select Quizzes from the list of tools.
  4. Scroll through the list of quizzes. Quizzes that are password-protected will display a key icon next to the quiz title.
  5. Locate the desired quiz, click the drop-down arrow next to its name, and select Edit.
  6. On the Edit Quiz page, expand the section labeled Availability Dates & Conditions. Scroll down to the Password field to view the exam password.

Optional: Setting a New Password

If a quiz does not currently have a password and the instructor would like to add one:

  1. Navigate to the Password field within the same section.
  2. Enter the desired password, then save the quiz settings.
Adding a password ensures that only authorized individuals can access the exam, supporting test security across collaborative courses.
