This article pertains to courses taught by local teachers as part of a collaborative partnership.
Introduction
The Activity Heatmap provides instructors with a snapshot of what their students are doing. Instructors are able to click on a date on the calendar and drill down to student activity. This should help instructors gain an understanding of when their students are busiest and what kinds of activities they are doing. It is important to note that the time stamp is only as specific as the day and for some activities can include just visiting the page, but it can still provide a valuable picture of where their students are visiting each day.

- First, access the Insights Portal from the Brightspace Homepage.
- Next, select the Analytics Builder tab and then select the "Insights Report Builder" link.
- From the left menu, select Activity Heatmap located under the "Instructor Dashboards - CI" section.
- Next, apply filters (Term, Student, and/or Course) to narrow the results displayed in the results table (Most Active Learners and Student Activity Heatmap). In the example below, only the the Student filter was applied.
- The "Most Active Learners" section will display the Activity Counts for a course while the "Student Activity Heatmap" provides a visual of the activity this student performed. Darker colors reflect more activity. Mentors can tap the number within the Activity Heatmap to view additional details.
