Import List of Student Profiles

Intended Audience: Affiliation Users

About

Affiliation users can add multiple student accounts to the Student Learning Portal (SLP) by importing information using a comma-separated values (CSV) file. Once student accounts are created, guardian accounts are automatically generated. Guardians will receive an email with account setup instructions after the student is enrolled in a course. This process helps ensure that guardians stay informed about student progress.

Instruction

Step 1: Create the Import File

  1. Select the Affiliations tab in the top menu, tap the Search button and then tap the appropriate affiliation name.
  2. From the left navigation menu, select Bulk Import Students and then tap the "click here" link next to "To download the import template."
  3. Enter the required information for each student in a new row. Leave the affiliationindex column blank and do not remove or alter any headers, and do not insert more than 200 students at a time. Proper file formatting is critical to ensure a successful import.
    • iep: Enter “1” if the student has an Individualized Education Program (IEP); enter “0” if not.
    • section504: Enter “1” if the student has a Section 504 Plan; enter “0” if not.
The IEP and Section 504 columns must not both contain “1” for the same student. It is acceptable for both fields to be “0”.
  4. Select File, then Save As then choose a location to save the file. Rename the file and select CSV (Comma delimited) as the file type.

Step 2: Import Student Profiles

  1. Select the Affiliations tab in the top menu, tap the Search button and then tap the appropriate affiliation name.
  2. From the left navigation menu, select Bulk Import Students.
  3. Tap Choose File, select the saved file, and then tap Open.
    • Tap Preview to review the list of students.
    • Tap Upload to import the students.
  4. Review the import results:
    • If "OK" appears next to the student’s name, the information was imported successfully.
    • If "Fail" appears, the student’s profile was not successfully imported. Check the "Messages" column for details and correct any issues before trying again.

Step 3. Verify the Import

  1. Select the Students tab in the top menu bar.
  2. Review the list of students to confirm that the imported students are listed.

At this point, both student and guardian accounts will be created, and guardians will receive an email with instructions to set up their login credentials.
